Unique Kids' Party Ideas
This year may be filled with postponements and plan changes but whatever is happening in the world, it will not change the fact that kids are always excited about celebrating their birthdays. Kids are always full of imagination and expectations for their upcoming birthdays so we have gathered tons of unique kids' birthday party ideas that will surely put a big smile on those little faces. The best part is these ideas are easy to put together if you're short on time to help you create a special and memorable celebration no matter the situation.
Virtual Princess Party
Virtual events have been trending since the year 2020. It is a great way to make everyone feel included no matter the distance. For your little one’s birthday, it may be a great idea to send favor boxes or goodie bags to their friends just before the big day. Even if it will not be an in-person gathering, a costume party is still be a great idea. Think about your kid’s favorite character and hire a princess cosplayer to portray it. Have a “Let it go, let it go” sing-along if your princess loves Elsa. Or amaze every little face with a fun storytime.
The star of the day will be glad to hear her favorite princess character sing a “Happy Birthday” just for her.
Whether via Zoom or any video conference apps, virtual parties will bring the magic and let your child feel that celebrating away from friends doesn't mean that they can't have a memorable birthday blast.
Drive-by Birthday Parade
A drive-by birthday parade is one of the great ways to ensure socially distanced space while still being able to see friends and family. This way of celebrating also gives you plenty of hosting and decorating possibilities.
Colorful garlands or balloon backdrops will make friends and family feel special as they drive by and wave. You can also add welcome banners or signs and play happy tunes every time guests arrive to make it more exciting. Simply give enough time for each to drive by your home and be a part of your kid’s birthday celebration.
Children love giving and receiving gifts, especially for birthdays. You can also set up a booth where guests can drop off their gifts in case they would like to give presents.
To make it more unique, you can also plan a "reverse parade" by decorating your car with a happy birthday sign and playing children’s upbeat music and drive-by the home of the party guests. You can use balloons and streamers for festive car decor. The most important thing is the thought that nothing can be compared with the joy that a child will feel at that very special moment. So many creative ways to make this party outstanding and exciting!
Homemade Hot Chocolate or Ice Cream Bar
Spread cheer with a homemade hot chocolate or ice cream bar. This type of set up is great only if you are celebrating with family. What makes it special is that you get to prepare a “just for the birthday girl/boy” dessert bar or a “make your own hot chocolate” table depending on the climate. Let them pick their own treats and ice cream toppings. If you would like to make the preparation easier, you may also check your local dessert places. Most will offer a dessert delivery to make set up easy. Create a more festive atmosphere with a little update on the home decoration. Something that will match the party theme. Let your kids know that you'll be setting up a dessert bar and we are sure that they will look forward for their birthday party!
Family Game Night
This year, let us replace sleepover with “lateover”. This is such a fun way of celebrating a kid’s birthday with just the family. This idea is so perfect for younger kids. No need to make the jump for the whole night! All you need is plan for interesting games that everyone can play over dinner at home. Try puzzle games, unwrapping gifts, glow in the dark games, karaoke, dance parties, crafting activities or anything that can make the day truly special. It's all about the little things!
Drive-in Theater
This is a classic! Though it will require a little more setup, this party theme is another fun social distancing idea that everyone loves. This can be done anywhere you want though it may be best to set the theater outside (maybe in the garden or backyard) for open-air and to make sure that seating is well spread out. Get your projector ready as well as your white sheet for the backdrop. After setting your DIY theater, don’t forget to pick a classic kid movie and hand the popcorn for your guests to enjoy while watching. If you have more preparation time, you can also make a more theater-like feel by decorating a ticket booth where every guest can print their tickets before entering the show. Perfect for all ages!
Celebrating your little one’s birthday may seem a little tricky because of social distancing and health guidelines to follow due to the pandemic but this should not stop the kids from having fun on their special day. Birthday parties may not go big because of the current situation but any family should realize that the same situation also allows us to have a more time together at home. There's so much to celebrate! Our daily life be a bit different for now but the party is still on!
