How to Host a Virtual Baby Shower! Ideas and Planning Tips
Celebrating the arrival of your little while social distancing can be tough! From planning virtual baby showers to making gifts to send to friends, there are still plenty of options to make your event special! If you’re helping to plan a baby shower for the parents to be, you’ll love these super cute diaper cake and party ideas!
Throwing a Virtual Baby Shower
Start by setting a date for your virtual get together! Whether over social media or meetings in Zoom, Discord or Google Meet, there’s plenty of options. Gather guest emails and send out the invite either with paper invites (make it special!) or with e-vites (budget friendly and fast!).
Decorations
Of course, this is our favorite part! Besides virtual zoom backgrounds, you can dress up your space and make it a little bit more special with balloons or paper garlands. If you’re helping a friend or family plan the shower, you can send them the decorations directly. Another option is to decorate your porch or car with balloons, or get the kids involved with driveway chalk drawings.
If you have time, you can drop off a diaper cake that’s super cute! We have a couple DIY videos that show how to make diaper cake centerpieces but in the case of virtual parties, they can be used as background decoration.

Activities
Opening cards and presents as part of a sip and see is always fun! Because you’re planning a virtual shower, there’s no need for a traditional shower format. You can choose to open gifts, or not - it’s up to you! Add some activities and virtual games to the mix for a bit of fun!
Here are a few game ideas -
How well do you know Mom? - Create a list of questions/answers for the guests! Alternatively, you can play a game like 20 questions - just get the answers from mama-to-be in advance. You can even have a rule that guests answer with an emoji or GIFs!
Celebrity baby name game - This one is also easy, just create a list and match celebrity baby names with their parents.
Baby shower mad libs - We played this one at our baby shower and it was such a hit! Best of all, you can absolutely play this game virtually. You can find examples online and then ask guests to fill in the words. The results are hilarious!
Name that song - Make a list of the parents-to-be favorite songs and guess away! You can also guess baby song names or nursery rhymes.
Who’s that baby - Ask guests to send in their photos before the party. One thing that our hostess did was mix in a few celebrity baby photos, it was pretty funny to guess!
What’s in the baby bottle? - For this you’ll need a few bottles and juice, milk, soda or even coffee! Let your guests guess what’s in each one, and the person with the most points wins!
Take Plenty of Pictures
Remember to record your memories! Whether by taking selfies or screenshots, or even recording the whole shower - make sure to assign this task to the host or tech-savvy friend so you can keep a virtual scrap book of the event! You can even ask guest to send in photos after for your baby book!
Sending Thank You Cards
After the event is over, don’t forget to send out your thanks. If you’re short on time, e-thank you cards are always appreciated! You can send your guests mini DIY favors if you’re feeling like getting artsy-craftsy!
