If you have friends who are getting married soon and you have no idea what to give them then you absolutely need to read these ideas!
In most cases, it’s insanely hard to give good gifts to a newlywed couple. They may already be getting useful and/or expensive stuff from immediate family members, most of which shouldn’t be gifted twice. Because of this, many people simply resort to sentimental gifts which might not cost all that much and won’t be used every day but the couple will still appreciate.
Whether you decide to buy or make a present, it means a lot to your friends to receive something that they will be able to look back on even years from now. So you won’t find concert tickets or travel miles on this list, even though those are great ideas to keep in mind, as we wanted to suggest more heartfelt gift ideas. But there is one thing to keep in mind if you’re gifting something handmade or on the topic of sentimentality. You likely have no idea what could be really meaningful and good for both halves of the couple, as there is a very high chance that you are only close to one of them.
Which is why we want to help you choose. These 3 things that we have listed are excellent ways of showing the couple your support and they will be glad that you have given them such a thoughtful gift.
Wallet of Dates
This gift doesn’t take much of your time but can get a bit costly. All you need to put it together is a wallet, a good amount of local restaurants and gift cards to those restaurants. Place the gift cards in the wallet along with a nice message that says something along the lines of: “For the upcoming date nights”, but it can even be a longer letter wishing them a happy marriage.
This is the perfect gift for newly wed couples! Let us tell you all the stresses you take off the couple’s shoulders by giving this to them.
First of all, they have a great variety of restaurants to choose from. And they can be picky if they want to. Because of this, they don’t need to check the restaurants out online, look at reviews or hear other people’s opinions. With gift cards, they can just simply decide on a restaurant go try it out themselves. If they don’t like what they got they still won’t get upset because they didn’t really spend money.
Second of all, you encourage them to continue dating. This way they will have the motivation to go out together and spend quality time focused on their other half. If you give someone this gift then you are simply showing how much you care about their relationship and that you want them to work out.
Lastly, it simply eliminates the “Where are we eating?” argument. There will be no such thing as “I don’t know” or “You choose”. By giving them a good amount of variety and interesting restaurants they will be encouraged to pick something. After all, if these are places they haven’t tried the food before then they will actively pick their favorites.
Time Capsule
This one is basically just a reminder for the couple. All you need is something that can be used as a time capsule, photos, something that represents the couple or where they are getting married and possibly a bottle of wine. If you want to go the extra mile you can get the wedding date engraved on the capsule.
For photos, you can reach out to the couple or even print some out from their social media - like their engagement photo or something sweet. For something that represents the couple, consider adding an item or two that they would love like their favorite movie. You can also add something from where they are getting married. For example, if they are getting married at the beach, you can put some shells in the capsule or if they are getting married at a winery, then maybe a bottle of wine from the venue.
This gift won’t pay off right away. The couple needs to wait at least a year, then open the box. What they find will be a reminder of their wedding day and the simpler times they had back then. When they reopen the time capsule they will be taken back and trust us, that will be very much appreciated.
The couple will be able to drink their favorite wine from their wedding day while looking at the best memories they made during that day. So sweet!
Reminder Jar
This is literally the simplest gift you can get, and takes a bit of planning, but it’s pretty effective. The reminder jar is a simple container that has two letters in it. One written by the groom and one by the bride and these letters should contain what they love about each other the most.
Once again, this gift will not pay off immediately, the couple will need some time (hopefully a lot) to open the jar. That should happen when they have their first fight after their marriage.
This will give them a new outlook on the issue as they see that all that really matters is that they are there for each other. And of course, that they love each other.
The fight jar can be reused a ton of times if the couple has very strong feelings and it will work just fine each time.
You can save the newlyweds a ton of trouble by reminding them of these small things at the right time. They will appreciate it. They will see that you care and that you support their relationship 100%, which is exactly what you need from a present. You can also add sweet motivational quotes to the jar for extra love!
In the end, it’s the thought that counts. But if all else fails then there’s nothing wrong with gifting cash that the couple can put towards their next big adventure. The important thing that all these gifts have in common is celebrating the couple and supporting their relationship - it’s all about love!
